Fry Street Christmas 2009

Friday night marked the 8th annual Fry Street Christmas celebration. It seems that every year we get together we try to remember back to the past Fry Street Christmases and fail to remember the details. So this year I am writing down some of the details. Putting them in the archives:)

This year we did the typical Fry Street sleepover with us five girls and then we added a brunch gathering in the morning so that we could get all of our husbands and kids together as well. Pat cooked up some waffles and sausage links. It was fun to watch all the kids interact as this was the first time that all the second generation Fry Street kiddos were able to play together. This was the grand debut for Emory Carrington as none of us had yet had a chance to meet her since she was born in June. We all joked that we should have had our husbands exchange gifts because it would have been hilarious. They know each other somewhat but are all very different and so I can only imagine what their gift exchange would have looked like. Footie pajamas anyone?? Awkward!

This year marked the first Christmas for Silas Antonello, Emory Carrington and Connor Bittner so there were several new Fry Streeters to chat about! This also marked the first time that a boy attended the Fry Street sleepover as two month old Baby Connor spent the night with us. He was so good. Between the five of us he had somebody to hold him the entire night, so he was Mister Content!

For snacks we had mushrooms in the crock-pot, dark chocolate from Mrs. Wentzell's students, veggies and dip and hot apple cider.

This years gifts:

1. Katie had Lindsey's name and got her a super soft and comfy robe along with Ralph Lauren Romance Body Wash.

2. Lindsey had Angel and got her a Jessica Simpson winter hat.

3. Angel had Katie and got her a a home-made apron with a pocket and Christmas morning pajamas.

4. Naomi had Amy and got her a gold sparkly Christmas Ornament and a DSW gift card.

5. Amy had Naomi and got her a colander and a garlic press.

Topics of discussion this year included: breastfeeding, the Carringtons plans to move to Washington DC, infertility and miscarriage, Christmas crafts (Advent calendars and Antonello family craft days), babies and husbands, the time capsule that Katie found in the move, weird dates from college, cameras, Brett Favre, picking paint colors, letting babies cry it out, Angel's plans for hosting her first Solberg Christmas gathering, the Wing's plans for their condo, autism, adoption, how dry ranch dressing is in so many recipes, Cathy Feuling's sharktooth necklace from 1984, and wedding photos.

My favorite story of the night: Naomi told us that there was a string of several nights where she could not get Connor to stop fussing and so in frustration she finally sent Rick a text message at work telling him that she was getting her "a** kicked by their baby." His response was "He is a blessing." This is funny for so many reasons. First....that is not typical language for Naomi so that makes it very funny. Second.....Rick's response...probably not exactly what she was looking to hear. LOVE it!
