As we were coming home from visiting Baby Bittner on Saturday morning, Pat made the comment, " maybe I will hang Christmas lights today?" A few hours later he said "maybe we should paint our room today?". It usually takes me some time to get mentally on board with a project, but after thinking through it, I agreed that painting was probably a good idea. We have lived here for a year and a half and still have white walls everywhere. We have been meaning to paint, but we never feel like we have enough time in a weekend to tackle it. It was one of the only weekends that was completely empty which meant we would have two full days to tackle the project without interruption. And what a project it was. Here are a couple lessons learned:
1. When you run out of paint and go back to get more, never use that can of paint to do touch up work. Yep, I did that and the colors were definitely different, which meant yet another trip to Lowes to get a third can of paint that we could use to touch up the touch ups.
2. Never leave the walk in closet until day 2 because it looks like a quick project. That closet was a beast...so many nooks and crannies. I almost think the closet took longer to paint than the whole room did.
But we did it. We completed the project in about 28 hours. Within 2 hours of finishing we were on the phone with a professional hiring them to come out and paint our main floor. We realized that if one bedroom takes us two days, the main floor would occupy us for weeks...definitely a job for a professional:)
I will post some before and after pictures shortly.
