Benny's Babble

Benny Boy will be two in a few weeks and I don't want to forget some of his random comments and things that he does daily that make us laugh.  He is not a huge talker, but once and a while he busts out with something new that makes us laugh.

1.  His new thing is to say "Ummmmm" before he answers any question.  He even shrugs his eyebrows as if he is a valley girl deep in thought.  Here is an example:
Me: "Bennett, where is Tatum?"
Bennett: "Ummmmmmmmmm ......there" as he points.

2.  Another thing he does when you ask him a questions is to say "Huhhhhhhhhh???"  He gets very very high pitched by the end of it and I need to remember to record it.  Its one of my favorite things that he says.  He uses it in the right context too which is the funniest part.  Another example:
Me: "Benny, Can you put your cup in the sink?"
Benny: "Huuuuhhhhhh?"  As if to say...are YOU talking to ME?

3.  The other day we were on our way home from daycare and in the back seat he starts saying "oooom-baaa" over and over.  My first thought was Ummpa Lumpa but why would he be saying that??  Then he started to point frantically at the Metro Mobility bus that was driving past us and I realized.  Oh I guess that is how he says School Bus.  Funny that he put two and two together and knew that was a bus...I would have thought it looked more like a van:)  Smart Cookie.

4.  We were driving around Lake Minnetonka this weekend just out for a leisurly drive.  All of a sudden, clear as day Ben says in a very concerned voice, "Where are we???"  For some kids this would not be a big deal, but he rarely busts out with a  clear sentence like that and it was as clear as day.  He knew he had never been there before and he knew we had been driving for a long time and I think he was finally like...Where the heck are they going?  He just had to ask:)

5.  Everyday when we leave the house to go to daycare, Ben says, "Aaa-ummm".  This is how he says Adam.  He cannot say Christopher yet either so he actually uses "Aaa-umm" to refer to both of them.  He loves seeing them at daycare.  So a few days ago I am feeding him a lunch of deli ham and fruit.  He says, "What's that?"  (this is Bennett's most common phrase these days).  I tell him, "That is ham.".  And in a very confused voice, he looks at me and says, "Aaaaa-ummmm????" Like that is not Adam mom!  Funny that ham and Adam sound like the same word to him.  Too funny.

Oh Bennett.  You have so much personality.  And we just LOVE hearing the things that you come up with.
