5 Months and Eating Solids

Last night Tatum tried rice cereal for the first time and it was long overdue. Her time between feedings was shrinking and it was obvious baby girl needed a little more sustenance in her diet! She loved it even though none of it likely made it any where near her digestive system. The bib ended up with most of it. At 5 months she is very giggly. She loves to talk back and forth and is very interested in playing with crinkly books and rattles. If she is in her swing or bouncer and does not have a toy or anyone to entertain her, she gets very mad. She no longer likes her swing much, she gets real bored in it. She has moved on to the jumperoo and even though her feet don't yet touch the ground, she is starting to take an interest in it. She took her first boat ride this weekend and did SO well. The infant life jackets are so constricting that I worried she would hate it but she did not mind one bit. She smiled as the breeze blew through her hair and she even took a dip in the lake with daddy. She has resumed her good sleeping habits and is usually going down around 8/8:30 and sleeps until 5:30/6ish. She always rolls herself onto her tummy to sleep. It's funny to watch her catch glimpses of Ben because when she notices him, she often smiles real big like, "Hey that's my brother. I love that guy." She is wearing 6 month clothes and continues to grow like a weed. She finally has little rolls on her long legs which she has worked hard for...pounding many a 6 ounce bottle for those rolls! She never makes it 4 hours between feedings like Bennett did....we are barely able to get her to go three hours between bottles. So I think adding some solids to her diet is needed. She is a growing girl. She has acquired a few nicknames around our house....Tater Bater, Tater (which I swore I would never let stick as a nickname), Shmug, Honey Bunny and Ben still only refers to her as Baby. I guess Tatum must be hard to say because he never is able to say it.  What a precious little peanut she is!
