My Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

I knew today was going to be a bad day when I woke up. I could just tell by all the little things that went wrong:

1st Pat overslept and was late for work
2nd I forgot my laptop at home and realized it on my way to work so I had to turn around and go back to get it...thus making me late too
3rd I got to work, started my computer and got the blue screen of death...thus setting me back even further
And now my husband is currrently outside with a shovel trying to get a squealing, injured squirrel out of our yard. I am so glad I am at work because I think I would die or faint at the thought of being in an enclosed backyard with a crazed injured squirrel. I would be convinced that it would attack me and give me rabies. I keep telling him....please do not get close to it....they can be mean and attack and carry disease. I am very worried.

This whole squirrel saga started while we were gone this weekend. While we serving in jail, Dan and Amy were nice enough to come over and let Hudson out each day. Apparently Hudson was seen with a squirrel in her mouth at one point this weekend by Dan, but when he went out there to get the dog, the squirrel was no where to be seen. So when we got home on Sunday night, we let the dog out and we heard her barking at something. Pat went outside in the dark with a flashlight and could see an animal in a hole, but could not tell what it was or if it was alive. He went back inside to get some gear and figure out what to do and by the time got back out there the animal was gone. We assumed it was the squirrel that had previously been spotted in Hudson's mouth and we hoped it was dead. Pat waited until today when it was light out to go back out and try to find it so we could get rid of it.

And find it he did. It was stuck in our fence..half dead and squealing when he got home from work. Who knows how long that poor little squirrel has been stuck and injured....and this is coming from someone that is absolutely terrified of squirrels. I have to reiterate how glad I am that I did not find it or I would have passed out at the horror of it all. Ewwwwww!

Now we have to figure out what to do with a dying squirrel to put it out of its misery and keep it from suffering. Do you think I can google it to find out what to do??
