A Future in Sales

I heard one of the funniest stories about Pat and his brother Dan the other day. It was obvious from an early age that these two had a bright future ahead!

Apparently when Pat and Dan were kids, it was known in the neighborhood that their mom, Rita, made some of the best cinnamon sugar around. Neighbor kids would come over looking to have a taste of this delicacy. So Pat and Dan decided to capitalize on this and turn it into a lucrative business venture. They would sell Ziploc baggies of cinnamon sugar for $5 a bag and they would sell out every time. Apparently there were even a couple neighborhood fights over these bags of cinnamon sugar. The funniest part is that Rita never knew about it. All those years she must have wondered where in the heck all of the sugar and cinnamon was going??

I think this is hysterical. Kids spending their allowance on cinnamon sugar. Too funny!

A couple of my other favorite business ventures from Pat’s childhood:

· In 5th grade Pat and Dan started their own lawn mowing business called, “You can’t you go wrong when you name the Price?” They would go door to door and mow people’s lawns and people could pay them whatever they felt was fair. As the story goes, Pat passed on his book of business to Dan when he got his first job and no longer had the time to manage his clientele.

· In 2nd grade, Pat sponsored a coloring contest at school. He tore a page out of his coloring book and walked over to Schneider’s drug store and made enough copies for everyone in his class. He brought them to school, handed them out and told everyone that he would be judging their submissions and that they winner would get a candy bar. Pat was a very objective judge and he named Eric Flave the lucky winner. Congrats again Eric on that victory, wherever you are.
