Lawn Mowing

When Pat is mowing, Bennett takes position right at the window.  He just stands there and watches and occasionally points and looks at me, as if to tell me that Pat is mowing.

Someday when mowing the lawn is his job, I will remind him of these days when he stood by the window dreaming of the day when he could join in on the fun.

Better Late than Never

I thought I was going to have to go to Kindergarten with Bennett just to hold his cup.

At 11 months he still would not hold his own bottle.

At 12 months he could not hold his own sippy.

At 13 months he still did not seem to understand the concept of "tipping it up" to get the milk.

And now at nearly 14 months the Angels are rejoicing because he is HOLDING HIS OWN CUP.

I feel like I was just given an extra set of hands.

Multi-tasking will now take on a whole new meaning.

Introducing Baby Joey

Our newest nephew, Baby Joey, made his big arrival on August 23rd.  He is a happy and healthy little boy and he already strongly resembles his handsome older brothers. Congratulations Dan, Amy, Adam and Christopher on this wonderful little addition to the Jordan family.

I love you Cousin Joey.

Bathroom Etiquette

I think it is going to be a while before we work on putting the seat down.  I think Ben has a few other things to learn about bathroom etiquette first.

This is a common find at our house these days.

You are What you Eat

If Bennett is what he eats then he must be very very sweet.  When watermelon or strawberries are within eyesight, he will not open his mouth for anything else.  He would live solely on red fruit if we would let him.  There are worse things he could be eating for sure, but I cannot imagine a diet of fruit alone will sustain a little boy on the move for very long. I have to wait to serve fruit until after he eats dinner because once he sees it, nothing else will do.
So I got out my blender and decided to mix some of the "non-red" fruits that he is not always craving with whole milk yogurt and a splash of OJ to make it a bit more filling.  And I think we have a new favorite.  He gulps it out of a grown up glass and seems to very much enjoy it.  I am doing an experiment.  I am going to start adding veggies to the smoothies and see if he notices.  As long as the good tasting fruit is in there I am guessing he won't even know the veggies are there.  My blender has just been collecting dust in the cupboard for a while so it's kind fun to have a new reason to put it to use.  The Jordan Family Smoothie Shop is open for business.

Now if only I could crave food as healthy as strawberries and watermelon...............

Lift Off

On Monday night, Bennett took his first steps unassisted.  By Wednesday he was putting a few steps together.  As parents of the first child do, we stood there and clapped and cheered him on everytime he would do it.  So now he thinks that part of walking involves clapping and cheering.  He usually falls over as he gets too excited with his clapping and it throws him off balance.  So I am officially putting it on record...first steps...Monday, August 1st.  Houston we have lift off.......

A few more of my favorites.....

We got the full CD of photos from the "Ben turns 1/Feulings have not had a family photo since fifth grade" photo shoot and here are a few more of my favorites.  As you can tell, I am partial to black and white.
