You are What you Eat

If Bennett is what he eats then he must be very very sweet.  When watermelon or strawberries are within eyesight, he will not open his mouth for anything else.  He would live solely on red fruit if we would let him.  There are worse things he could be eating for sure, but I cannot imagine a diet of fruit alone will sustain a little boy on the move for very long. I have to wait to serve fruit until after he eats dinner because once he sees it, nothing else will do.
So I got out my blender and decided to mix some of the "non-red" fruits that he is not always craving with whole milk yogurt and a splash of OJ to make it a bit more filling.  And I think we have a new favorite.  He gulps it out of a grown up glass and seems to very much enjoy it.  I am doing an experiment.  I am going to start adding veggies to the smoothies and see if he notices.  As long as the good tasting fruit is in there I am guessing he won't even know the veggies are there.  My blender has just been collecting dust in the cupboard for a while so it's kind fun to have a new reason to put it to use.  The Jordan Family Smoothie Shop is open for business.

Now if only I could crave food as healthy as strawberries and watermelon...............

  1. I think a 'smoothie' with some veggies involved is the only way I will ever get my daily dose of veggeis as well. :)

  2. I am with you on holding off fruit with the fruit until the end of the meal sometimes! Connor is a "fruit-a-holic" and depending on what the rest of the meal consists of I for sure have to be careful about busting out the good stuff!!
