Sweating

The Twin Cities reached a record temperature Tuesday, the hottest day on record since 1988, to be exact. And this happened right smack dab in the midst of our A/C being down. It stopped working on Friday and it still is not working. We have basically been in a bunker (AKA our basement) all week avoiding the massive heat that has taken over our house. I have to say that the 51 degrees last night was such a breath of fresh air. I love summer but it was nice to be able to open up the windows and sleep like babies.

Memorial Day 2011

Memorial Day Weekend was a fun one. We headed up north with Jim, Rita, Mindy and Kaylee for the weekend and even though the weather looked to be a washout we actually got in some quality time on the boat. It ended up to be quite nice outside. Dan and Amy and the boys came up to hang out with us on Sunday too. This was Benny's first time up on Bay lake and he enjoyed it. We enjoyed some pizza at the Lonesome pine, played cards at Ruttgers Lodge, went for a nice long drive to see all the new cabins, spent our daya playing on the boat, played in the pool and slept like babies each night!

Ready to Ride

Bennett has not stayed in a hotel since he was only a few days old so he very much enjoyed the hotel experience.

Bennett's 1st Haircut

Bennett got his first haircut on Friday night from Aunt Jenny. His curls have gotten so cute since the summer humidity started and I have been in denial that he was in desperate need of a haircut. I finally came to terms with it and so here is Ben's new look. It's actually curlier than ever now that some of the long stuff is gone. There were some tears in the process but we made it through his first haircut!

Almost Done: Tears Start Rolling

After: Tired and happy with his new look

The Price of Fun

It's fascinating how there is an inverse relationship between how much you pay for a toy and how much your child loves it.

Good Cop Bad Cop

I got an email update from one of the babycenter websites telling me what I might expect from my 46 week old. They said that a child at this age may have up to 5 words that they can say....What 5 words???!! We are certainly not there yet. It described to me that in order to increase a child's vocabulary parents should describe all their daily activities to their child. It gave the example of cooking and telling the child "this is a pan and I cook dinner with a pan." or while sweeping telling them, "this is a broom and I sweep with a broom."

So this morning before work I was telling Pat about this email and we were more joking and making fun of it given we rarely follow the textbook on parenting. Immediately Pat turned to Bennett and stuck his butt out while pointing to it and said "This is a butt and I poop from my butt." Did I add that he was in his boxers (TMI!????)

And this my friends is the battle I am up against. Hmmmm I wonder who will be the fun parent?

To Grandmother's House we Go

The Jordan Family is going through a big transition. Hudson, our dog, is moving in with the Grapes. We love Hudson dearly but with us both working full time she just does not get as much attention as she deserves and there is nowhere else she would rather be than at the vineyard. So Hudson is going to summer camp in Chip. She is going to be a vineyard doggie with Sparky and she will be in heaven out there. We miss you Hudson and Bennett certainly will miss you but we will see you often and I would guess that you will be so busy chasing rabbits at the vineyard that you won't have much time to miss us. So once again my parents have inherited a dog. Who would have thought that the same mother that gave away my puppy, Beethoven, a few days before Christmas (not that I am scarred or anything) would be taking in all of these puppies. I think you have redeemed yourself mom!
