We went on a little day trip up north to Bay Lake yesterday.
We got the boat out for the first time this year and the sun even made an appearance for much of the afternoon.
Benny made an unplanned trip/fall from the dock into the lake. He was a little shaken up and quite cold but we quickly got him dried off and in dry clothes and it made us so so thankful we were right there and he had on his lifejacket.
After an evening swim and pizza we headed for home around 8.
And thats when the real adventure started.
Minutes into our trek home the tire blew on the boat trailer....and on a Sunday night of a holiday weekend there was absolutely nothing open. So we made a few calls and landed ourself in a hotel for the night.
By 5 am this morning our whole family of 4 was sharing a queen bed and there was NO sleep to be had.
We continued the adventure today, in the same clothes.
With the help of Jim, a random good samaritan, who wanted us to buy the camper next door to him and hundreds of miles driving around to find somebody with the tire we needed we at last had our tire in hand around 2 pm.
The kids were troopers given we could have been to disney world with as many hours as they spent in the car today!
So here we are 24 hours later and we are finally home. What started as a day trip turned into more than we bargained for. Lots of good family memories were made and we will enjoy the comfort of our own beds so much tonight!
