Two
I can hardly believe our sweet daughter is 2 months old. To me she still seems like my newborn little baby.
She is gaining weight beautifully, amidst her spit up episodes. At two months she weighs in at 9 lbs 10 oz which puts her in the 5th percentile just like she was at 1 month. Its amazing that she is even on the charts given she was born 5 weeks early so we are very happy with that. Her height is 22 inches which jumped from the 10th percentile to the 20th percentile so she is gaining ground there. And her head is the big winner coming in at the 50th percentile which is up from the 25th percentile a month ago. I remember that Ben's head was the same way. While he was small, his head was growing faster than the rest of him.
She is a gassy little thing and it sometimes really seems to bother her. Especially around dinner time. That is when she seems most uncomfortable. So we are going to try a different formula and see if that seems to help her reflux and gas and helps her to be more comfortable. I just feel so bad for her when she constantly is battling spit up. But by nighttime she is as peaceful as can be. She is not really ready to go down until 11 or 12 and she has started to sleep really well at night. She hates to be swaddled and just prefers to sleep with her heads up over her head. She usually goes 5 to 6 hours at night which is perfect. I mean it is no 8 hour sleep, but it is enough to feel like a full night and keep from getting tired during the day. I was so so hoping we would get to 6 hours before I went back to work and so I am so glad that we are there with my maternity leave coming to an end. She really surprised us over the weekend and pulled a 9 hour stretch. But I know that is just a fluke and I actually now set an alarm to make sure that doesn't happen again for a while because I just don't think she is quite big enough to sustain that long. Waking a sleeping baby...I know seriously...who does that?
She has a precious little smile. She has sweetheart lips, as I like to call them. Because they are so small and girly and look like the sweetheart neckline on a dress. And she just looks so so sweet when she smiles at the sound of our voice or a look that we give her. Her smiles just came about a week and a half ago and so that has been a really fun new stage for us. It's crazy how proud you can feel of a little tiny baby when they give you a good burp or flash that sweet grin!
And we think her blue eyes are here to stay. The pediatrician said she thought they would have started to get darker by now if they were going to change so it looks like our brown hair, blue eyed girl may keep her colors:) Hopefully she keeps that full head of hair too.
We sure love our little girl and are enjoying watching her little personality come out more and more each day. She is very talkative and coos a lot. She gets lots of love and attention from big brother and she gets her nuk shoved in her mouth by him a zillion times a day. He is a great little helper and calls her "baby". His word for Tatum still sounds just like how he says daddy so we cannot tell those two words apart. But we do hear him call her baby. And he often sees another baby and then runs pointing and talking to her as if to point out that we have one too. He is a very proud big brother.
We love you so much sweet Tatum! Heading into month 3 as a family of 4...so hard to believe!
