One

Tatum is one month old.  She is awake more and more each day and continues to be a mellow little thing.  She loves to be snuggled and it takes about .2 seconds for her to fall asleep in your arms.  In her bed, however, is another story.  It takes her a while to fall asleep at night.  We usually have to go in and out of her room several times to put her nuk back in her mouth so she can fall asleep.  And she is a spitter upper so many times when we lay her down to bed, we have to go back in and change her clothes a few minutes later after a spit up incident.   She loves to pull her legs up into her body very tightly and it makes her look like a perfect little ball when she is laying on our chest.  We have learned a few things about Miss Tatum in the last week.  She falls asleep much faster when she is not swaddled.  She likes to have her hands up above her head.  And she needs a light on in order to fall asleep.  I think when all the lights are out, she has a tendency to keep her eyes open instead of falling asleep (probably pretty common for most newborns).  She is eating 3.5 oz every four hours and sometimes will even eat 4 ounces.  We went in to see her pediatrician yesterday and she got a clean bill of health.  Our little girl is growing beautifully.  She is up to a whopping 7.8 lbs (and just two short weeks ago she was 6.1 lbs).  She is 20 3/4 inches long (which is up from 19 inches just two weeks ago).  She is looking long and lean to me and her face is filling out more and more each day.  In the last week she is more and more aware of her surroundings and has really begun to wake up.  She loves to stare at us now when we talk to her.  My favorite time of the day with her has been late in the evening when she is laying in my arms fast asleep and is just the most peaceful looking thing.  She really is such a great baby.  In less than a week, she will reach her due date of Feb 28th.  What fun it has been to add little Tatum Hope to our family.  Bennett has done really well adjusting to her being around.  He always gives us his surprised face when he hears her crying and has shown her lots of love and attention!  It won't be long and she will be playing right along side her big brother.

And those droopy litte cheeks...I could just eat them right up. We love you so much Tatum.  Such a beautiful and precious gift from God!
