We had not even made it to HWY 65 and Pat decided the first stop would be McDonald's. Perfect...we even had a coupon for a free Extra Value Meal. I love coupons. At that point we made the rule that every stop we made, we had to capture on film.
At McDonald's, we had the drive-thru lady take our picture. She seemed very caught off guard ....as if people never ask her to take pictures of them in the McDonald's drive thru....Seriously?!? Pat got embarrassed as he asked her to take our picture...so he added "It's for a project" onto the end of his request. HAHA ...a project...well I guess so.
We did not even have our arms back in the car and we heard the lady turn around to her friends and say..."OK that was weird."
Hello...remember us...the ones who just got our food. We may be weird but we do have ears.... And we can hear you. :)
And we were off....
As we pulled away, we realized it might be nice to sit down and have a nice dining experience ....so we made a stop at Jim and Rita's to visit as we ate our McDonald's. Rita even made us some fresh bakes cookies for desert....yum! Here we are in Jim and Rita's driveway.
As we were deciding our next stop, I remembered Kohl's was having a big clearance sale. And as I stated earlier...I love coupons and sales! So a stop at Kohl's was a must. Pat needed clothes for the cruise so we were able to pick him up a couple things at a steal of a deal.
Side Note: Kohl's is only about 1/2 mile from our house. So at this point, we were a good hour into the road trip and we were literally only 1/2 a mile away from home. At this rate, we were bound and determined to make it to Turtle Lake and back by 2011.
Here we are in Kohl's.
Now it was time to cover some ground. So our driver, Pat, kicked it into gear and got the Saturn moving! HWY 8 hear we come!
Now what good is a road trip without gas and what good is a casino without cash. So we decided a stop at Super America would solve both problems. While we were there, we snapped a quick self portrait and hit the road.
Now we were trotting along HWY 8 headed for Taylor's Falls and "Oh look..... a vineyard and winery. Let's stop and see if it is open."
No luck...but we did drive around a bit and got a look at their grape plants. Kind of a pretty site at sunset. No kidding huh ....who would have known that grapes could grow in cold weather???:)
About 5 hours after we had left our house, we finally arrived at our destination...Turtle Lake. We were good and hungry so their Friday night "All you can Eat Fish Fry" seemed right up our alley and a must have for any trip to WI.
Pat was a little disappointed when he realized only the fish was all you can eat and not the french fries or the buns...but it made it all better when for signing up as new players....we got COUPONS.....good for $3 off our $7 fish fry. That is right folks...we each had all we could eat fish for $4. How is that for a New Year's Deal?? We left the casino after several hours with our belly's full and up $10. Not bad.
See us below enjoying our fish and buns....yuuuuum!
Just when we thought our trip was complete, we decided a late night stop at Running Aces would be fun. Let's turn that $10 into more....right.....and that we did. We walked out with $75 and a smile on our faces and our day of fun paid for. YIPPEE!
Maybe 2010 is going to be our year???!!! Mom... Dad...that was a joke....well a rhetorical question really...no need to worry...we don't plan on betting the farm....we should not be needing 1-800-333-HOPE.
At that point it was getting too cold for outdoor pictures...so here I am in the car in front of Running Aces:)
What a fun day of adventure together. We sure hope that 2010 brings many blessings and many more adventures our way!
YOu guys are hilarious!
