Mothers Day

In Honor of my 1st Mother's Day I thought I better get some photos with my little guy. It seems I am always behind the camera and rarely am I ever in the picture. It is so neat to think of what the last year has meant for our family. One year ago we were hoping and praying for a little one to call us mom and dad and this year we know him, love him and well ...we are still waiting for him to call us mom and dad:) Happy Mother's Day to all you mamas out there and special prayers for all you ladies that are waiting and praying for a little one to join your family.

Broken Key

Do you know how hard it is to type with a broken key on the computer? One of my keys ony works about haf of the time. It is very frustrating. Everytime I og into anything my username bombs out. Hmmm I wonder why that is.

In like a lamb and out like a lion

Easter this year came in like a Lamb and went out like a lion. We were able to celebrate the joyous celebration of Jesus' resurrection with all of our family this year. And what Easter celebration would be complete without the big ol' happy Easter bunny dropping by?? The Easter Bunny came twice this year. Once on Sat morning at Grandma Grapes and then again on Easter morning at our house. At Grandma Grapes the Easter bunny brought a new swing for the backyard and a new blankie for snuggling up at Grandma's house. Benny loved the swing but I think he was even more excited by the box it came in.

Kaylee and Mindy slept over on Easter Eve and we awoke to a wonderful Easter egg hunt that the Bunny had prepared. Benny's basket was hidden in the crock and Kaylee's was in the dryer.

But before our Easter celebration came to a close, Bennett broke out in a full body rash so off to Urgent Care we went. And since there have been recent outbreaks of Measles in the area, they had to test him for that. But in the end they concluded that it was just a virus. But in my humble non medical opinion I think it was just a teething rash. His top two teeth were on there way in throughout Easter weekend and this round of teething was especially tough on him. But all is well. It was not measles and we have lots of great memories of Bennett's 1st Easter.

And one more thing

He sleeps with his butt up in the air now.

Fast Forwarding to 10 Months

Bennett is 1o months old......yep before I even had the 9 month photos posted, he went and turned another month older. Somebody stop the clock.

  • He is a man on the move. He scoots around and manages to get anywhere he wants to go. He doesn't crawl on his knees....it is more of a military belly crawl at this point. This morning I left him on the floor of his room to play for a minute while I got ready for work and when I went in there he had crawled under the crib. He was peeking out like "hey look at this I never knew you could actually play under here. " So before he bonked his head and ruined his love of exploring new territory, I rescued him and realized we have entered a new era of mobile baby:) Buckle up as I think we have a lot to learn.

  • He has a new found interest in toys but when a TV remote or cell phone is within eye shot forget the toys as the electronics are all that he wants.

  • He now has two top teeth and two bottom teeth and so table foods are a regular part of his diet. He loves it when I feed him from my fork and plate as if anything off of my plate tastes better.

  • He says "Dada" all the time but "mama" has yet to make it into his vocabulary.

  • His sense of humor is really starting to come to light. He understands when people are joking and loves to laugh. He is a smiley smiley guy.

  • He is very persistent. If there is something that he is trying to figure out, he will stick with it until he figures it out even if it takes a long time. He puckers his lips while he concentrates and it is very cute to watch. I think he actually has a fairly long attention span for his age.

  • He is very interested in faces...he wants to grab them and poke them and this means his big cousins have to wear their eye protection at daycare:) Eye glasses don't stand a chance anymore.

  • He has just started to point at things and he loves to mimic sounds...he still loves the sound of his own voice. He will banter back and forth making copy cat noises and he thinks he is very funny when he does this.

  • He is still a big fan of jumping. When he stands up holding our hands, he loves to hop and jump. He can stand at length when leaning up against something and he takes steps while holding our hands. I have a feeling walking is still a little ways off.

  • He loves to drink water from his sippy cup and he loves to hold it by himself but he still cannot tip it up high enough to get any water out if it without help.

  • He flaps his hands wildly in excitement when he sees Pat or I come into a room....it is such a special feeling for us to feel such love from our little boy.

  • Bennett is about 19 lbs and wears a size 4 shoe and diaper and mostly 9 to 12 month clothing. And the most exciting news is that with the recent humidity Benny's curls are becoming more obvious. I love his curls and even though his hair is getting long, I just cannot bring myself to cut them off. So hockey hair here we come.

So here is our little heart breaker at 10 months young.....................................................................
